**Warning** Adult Content
(I wouldn’t read this at work)
Monica was questioned by several fans recently regarding the steamy allusions in some scenes for Unwritten. Initially there was a rather erotic scene written for the book between Caroline and David, to have taken place on their first night in London. The scene was cut out of the book. Below is the original scene as it was written, then lost on Monica’s hard drive. Be warned, it is adult in nature. This particular “chapter” belongs on page 266 in the first edition.

The rain in London was legendary. They had only been in London a few hours. At least Peterson had been located.
Lying on the bed with Reese wrapped around her, listening to it hit the roof tiles, Blaine was feeling cathartic. It was almost two in the morning and she wasn’t sleepy. Her body was tired, but her mind wouldn’t stop going. There was too much at stake.
Reese hadn’t gone to sleep yet either. The rain was relaxing, but the tension coming off Caroline’s naked body was radiating more than just thoughts. He couldn’t remember ever loving someone like this. The desire he felt for her was consuming.
A flash of light and the sonorous clap of thunder that followed served to further the tension running in her body. She hated storms after all. From his breathing, she couldn’t tell if he was asleep. Slumber would evade her tonight as the storm grew closer and the intensity built in the air, making static charges nearly palpable. Only it wasn’t the storm that was throwing off sparks. Desire grew in her with each passing moment for the man in contact with her damp skin. The ceiling fan offered little respite from the summer heat. The air conditioner clicked on in the old house finally. Thank goodness for modern upgrades.
What was it about Reese that made her ache for him? With just a touch or a look, her mind turned to their shared affections. Only he could do this to her. He alone could draw pleasure out so exquisitely that it became torture, then bliss.
His mind raced to their last encounter in Paris. He had given her the ring on top of the Eiffel Tower. How cliché? But it wasn’t. It somehow made perfect sense when it came to her, to their entire history. Then they had left, walking the streets of ‘la ville de lumiere’, hand in hand, their desire finally coming to a crescendo- in the confines of their room in Suresnes. His name was released from her lips like a prayer, over and over. She slipped into bliss against him, as the days of being chased by a madman caught up with them. The passion they had for each other, denied for so long, washing over them like silk each time. He longed for it again. He couldn’t get enough of her.
The thunder rolled outside and echoed through her mind. She felt his body change. Pressed into her stomach, his arousal was growing quickly. He might be pushing forty-three, but he still had it in him. Even after all the exhaustion they had been living with. A smile graced her lips. They had agreed to wait until they were no longer sharing a surveillance house with agents. It was late though, most of the team in the creaky house should be asleep.
She exhaled audibly and he knew in an instant, she was awake. Silence reigned however. Her head was cradled in the crook of his left arm, her pillow of choice for some time now. He pulled away from her just enough to engage his right hand on an assault mission- to pleasure her and make her forget the storm outside. Or perhaps it would be to help create new memories to associate with thunderstorms in her mind; memories that held pleasant connotations.
Her breathing had increased as his fingers found the dampness between her legs. She drew up her left leg to lay over his slim waist, granting him silent permission to continue. The bundle of nerves beneath his fingers were on firing overload. He pushed her gently on to her back, careful not to aggravate her injuries. She was splayed out before him on the bed, beautiful, and all his. His fingers never left her as his mouth made contact with her body, laying down a blazing trail of kisses, branding her breasts with heat. Each one was lavished with attention. Taking his time was something he had learned- with her, it paid off in the end as always. Each time lightning touched the sky, the room was illuminated for an instant, rewarding him with the look on her face as the pleasure grew. The sounds coming from her were the most beautiful noises he had ever heard. She was the best at what she did for the Navy, but now she was reduced to her most primal desires. He liked knowing he was the one, the only one, that could do this to her.
His fingers were pulled aside as she countered his movement and had him on his back, looking into her eyes. Fire ran over him as she left her own trail down his abdomen, teasing and licking. Her target was acquired as her mouth found him in the darkness. She had never done this for him. His fingers moved through her short curly hair of their own will. Unable to stiffle it- a groan from his throat mingled with the thunder. He had always been quiet, except with her. He was uninhibited and let go of any sound he made into the air when he was with her. Her battered body had endured so much and yet, here she was on her knees, between his legs. He’d never imagined it would feel like this, to have her mouth on him. The awkward position had to be putting strain on her injuries. He moved his hands to cease her motions. He couldn’t allow her to suffer more pain to bring him pleasure. She pinned his hands at his sides. The lightning flashed in the room and the look in her eyes told him everything- she wasn’t stopping.
His hands relaxed once more and she again took him in her mouth. Moments that seemed like little eternities went by and his control was to the breaking point. She seemed to realize this as he slipped out. The cooler air in the room and loss of friction from her mouth helped him to regain control. His breathing was labored, his mind consumed by the need to keep his connection with her.
Illumination, again and again. Snapshots taken with his eyes from the contrast that nature was providing in the room. The storm was directly over them. With the next discharge of light, so was she, straddled over him, sinking. The connection was alive again as he disappeared inside her.
Where did he begin, where did she end? For the moment, there was only one.
Tension grew in each muscle, along with the anticipation of completion, fighting for the plateau that would soon hit hard. He could feel her tense. Caroline collapsed on him with an unintelligible noise, breathless and gasping. He lay there, feeling her grasp him internally as her muscles fluttered with an orgasm. All thoughts had left her mind except the erotic pleasure that swept through her. When she recovered somewhat he rolled her gently, to sit her up, then back on the bed. He hovered over her again as he sought his own completion. Their noises, as they found oblivion, filled the house.
Sated for now, air movement from the ceiling fan over head and the cool air from the floor vent gave them relief from the temperature. Tangled in each others arms, breath coming in gasps, they knew only the sound of each other and wild heartbeats. Relief came in other ways, too. Relief came in their love.
Henderson still had to be found and brought to justice. Lives hung in the balance until then. Uncertainty lay ahead. But for now, sleep .
The thunderstorm was passing finally, the grumbling claps losing their intensity. Reese wouldn’t see the smile in the dark, but Caroline wasn’t so afraid of thunderstorms anymore. From now on, she’d long to hear them in the night.
Nothing falls like London rain.
